“What future working conditions can we hope for? What can we build together? What needs to change to reach that future?

The library collects zines surrounding the ecologies of labor and work. From unpaid internships, academic work, domestic labor, to the professional lives of artists. The project was inspired by the term Hope Labor, which describes labor we perform in hopes of achieving future employment or other opportunities. It can include low and unpaid work and often overlaps within the creative industries where creatives often go underpaid or unpaid for their services. The zines have primarily been produced by cultural workers based in Finland and the Nordics. It is our hope that through this installation you can peer into our working lives amidst precarity and cuts.“.
